Information
The King Cobra and I is the story of one man's quest to protect the world's largest venomous snake, the highly endangered and much feared
King Cobra - a giant reptile with enough venom to kill an elephant in one bite.
The film follows American ex-patriot Romulus Whitaker - World authority on the Snakes of India, as he travels around southern India, searching for the perfect place which may eventually become the world's first King Cobra sanctuary.
On his journey he risks his life to rescue Kings that have ventured out of their forest homes and into contact with India's ever growing
population.
King Cobras can grow up to 18 feet and are the only snake to build a nest. Romulus is in no doubt that this is truly the King of Serpents - they even eat other snakes!
As part of his captive breeding programme to restock wild populations, Rom introduces a prize male called Elvis to a female called Priscilla. The hatchlings are finally released by Rom into the remote jungles that he has selected as the home for a new generation of Kings.
Set to classic songs by Elvis Presley, this film gives a unique insight into the lives of these deadly, yet secretive creatures, through the eyes of a man who has a passionate desire to save them.
