BBC Natural World - Penguins of the Antarctic
Wednesday 11th January 2006

Information

Documentary that looks at Antarctica's penguins' continual struggle to survive the deadly cold. Each penguin has its own strategy - some rely on thick down coats and fat reserves, others migrate north for the winter, or stay on volcano-heated islands. Now life is getting even tougher as Antarctica's climate starts to change. The ice-loving Emperor Penguins may be the first to lose out but King Penguins are waiting in the wings to take over.

Thanx, I love them bugs and especially ants.

Isn't it amazing how they organize a colony with over 1 million of them, each one doing its job?

It's one of Nature's mysteries. :duh: :chin:

nice quality :P

BBC Natural World - Stalking The Jaguar
Wednesday 01st February 2006

No link, sorry.

Information

The Jaguar is South America's most mysterious predator - so secretive that even the scientists who study them can expect only a handful of sightings in a lifetime of research. Filming jaguars in the wild will be the greatest challenge yet for Big Cat specialists Owen Newman and Amanda Barrett. Equipped with amphibious buggies they head for Brazil's Pantanal, the world's biggest wetland, where jaguars feast on Caiman, Peccaries, Capybara and occasionally cattle. Deep in the wilderness, as the cameras begin to reveal remarkable new behaviour, the film makers start to wonder just who is stalking whom.

Comments The original torrent was 755MB, so I re-encoded at a lower bitrate. I could only do a one-pass encode so quality may not be excellent throughout, but it looks like it has come out fine.

BBC Natural World - Bonobo: Missing in Action
Wednesday 8th March 2006

No link, sorry.

Information

The bonobo is the least known of all the great apes thanks to its remote jungle home in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It's a different kind of chimp, shy and peace loving, and it gives us a remarkable insight into our own gentler side.
Unlike the more violent common chimpanzees, bonobos live in peaceful societies ruled by females, where aggression is diffused by frequent sex. In the last few years their forest home has been overtaken by war, and scientists fear they are heading for extinction. This film follows Dr Frances White as she makes her first emotional journey back to the Congo to see if the bonobos she once studied have survived.
